Telling the time

We are learning to tell the time.
We each had a clock of our own to help us.
We can only move the hour hands by moving the minute hands.
We are remembering to pay more attention to the little hand when we want to know what the hour is!

Senior infant addition

We made a great data chart of our favourite Christmas things.
Look at what we love about Christmas.
We have got some new spinners in our class.
We played a great game putting counters on numbers that teacher called out, then adding numbers.
We are becoming very good at adding numbers.

The counting bus

We played a new maths game today.
Each of us had a counting bus and a bag full of passengers.
With teacher we made stories about the passengers who got on and off the bus.
We like grouping passengers and making up stories about these passengers.
We could even remember where each passenger was sitting when it was their turn to get off the bus.
We like this new game.

Marshmallow shapes

We had a very interesting lesson today.
We made lots of interesting 2D and 3D shapes with marshmallows and toothpicks.
Can you recognize these 2D shapes?
(hint: square, triangle, pentagon, rectangle and hexagon)
and these 3D shapes?
(hint: cube, cuboid, triangular pyramid, square pyramid and triangular prism).
We tried wriggling them with our hands and found that the shapes made from triangles are much stronger than the shapes with no triangles in them.
Then when we had finished making great shapes, we had a lesson in using chopsticks (which we were learning about when we talked of China last week in Geography).
We used the chopsticks to eat up all the little marshmallows. We put the toothpicks in the bin!
Our shapes were really delicious!
