Big, medium and small

We are learning about big and small. We put lots of things in order of size, identified lots of small things and big things. We ordered the children according to size. The children told their teacher she is the smallest in the whole school. Teacher loves the honesty of junior infants :)

Maths Week 2012

Here are some of the activities we did for maths week this week:

A data chart of our favourite Halloween things.
We loved being able to choose our favourites.
We had a great chat about which group had more/less  most/least.
How many more/less in one group than in another.
We enjoyed playing some number activity games.

We had a jumping game that involved guessing and predicting.

Halloween data

Today we received another note from Titch The Witch. She asked us what our favourite things about Halloween are. We decided that the best way to show Titch is using a chart. From the chart we can clearly see the most favourite thing is all the sweets collected on Halloween night.

Junior infants: Number 1

We are learning to recognise and form numbers. We play number hunting games, number detective and lots more. We listened to a lovely story about the number 1.
We love making numbers out of play doh and forming the numbers in our books. We learn a little poem to help us remember how to make the number.
Straight line down
and then we're done
thats how to make
the number one

Number 1 is like a stick.
A straight line that is very quick.

So far we have learned the number one.
