Fishing in Junior infants

We started to play go fish.  We each take turns and turning a fish over, we count the dots on the fish and match it to the number in the bowl.  If we dont have that number we keep fishing until we fill the bowl with fish.  e are getting very good at taking turns and helping each other in a nice way without getting angry if someone forgets how to play.

Pattern work in Junior infants

This week we were talking about patterns in Maths. We see patterns everywhere - on animals, on tiles, on clothes, on floors, on walls. We made patterns in school with counters, bears, straws, beads and links. We brought in some patterns from home.

Number game in Senior Infants

We learned how to play a new matching game.  You have to match up numbers, numerals and spots.  We will play this in teams and see can each team do the matching correctly.  We don't think it will be too difficult for us.

Christmas data in Senior infants

Friday, 16th December 2011
Today we chatted about our favourite Christmas things.
Of course we all love Santa and Christmas presents, but these weren't choices for us.
Look at what we chose:
We counted and compared the groups, saw which had most and least, saw "how many more" or "how many less" there were in some groups as compared with others.
We learned lots of maths from this activity.
