Class shop

We are using our expertise with money to run a fun class shop.
We love being either shopkeepers or customers.
We buy lots and lots of food and treats.

Disaster data

We had a chat today about different kinds of natural disasters that occur in our world.
Luckily we are not directly affected by most of them.
We are going to study one kind of disaster for our lego project.
Today we took a vote, by means of a data chart, as to which type of disaster we should learn more about.
Here are the results:

Fruit and veg maths

Today we had a fruit and vegetable tasting day.
Most people brought in one piece of fruit and one vegetable for the class to try.
First of all we sorted the fruits and vegetables.
Then we sorted according to colour, shape and whether each one was rough or smooth.
We counted each kind of fruit and veg and made a data chart of what we had.
We had most olives.
Next we tried tasting the fruit and veg.
Here are what we tasted:
Vegetables: carrot, leek, parsnip, courgette, eggplant (aubergine), scallions, peppers (red and yellow) and cucumber.
Fruit:  apple, orange, banana, pear, kiwi, grapes, olives, strawberries, coconut and tomato, blueberries and avocado.
We each had a card like the one above.
Teacher gave us a sticker for each thing we tasted and we put an X in the box if we didn't want to taste any food.
Some of the kids in our class tried EVERYTHING!
Well done to them for trying.

How we like to travel

We made a really nice data chart of the ways in which we like to travel.
We talked about the advantages and disadvantages of each way.
Cycling is the healthiest way to travel, but it is a little slow and you can get wet.
A car is the handiest way to travel, but you don't get any exercise if you use the car.
Most of us like to fly or use the bike.
